Morning House Fire Near Lincoln, De. Accidental

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office has determined that a house fire this morning near Lincoln, Delaware was accidental.

The Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company and several nearby mutual aid fire companies responded to the 18000 block of Hickory Lane near State route 113 shortly before 4:00 am for an active fire inside a single-story ranch style house. Ten people managed to escape without injury.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s office were called to the scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire. The fire began inside a sunroom and was caused by a faulty heating and air conditioning appliance. The home was severely damaged.

Fire damage was estimated at $450,000. There were no reportable injuries however female occupant was taken to Bayhealth Sussex Campus for a medical evaluation
