The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating this afternoon’s fatal house fire in Wilmington, Delaware.  A 13-year-old male was rescued from the home and succumbed to his injuries.
The blaze, reported shortly before 12:30 pm, occurred in the 400 block of Robinson Drive in the Dunleith development.  The Minquadale Fire Company arrived on the scene and encountered flames engulfing the one-story home.  Firefighters entered the burning structure and rescued the victim from inside.  Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the New Castle County Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the victim enroute to the trauma center at the Nemours Children’s Hospital.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
State fire investigators are currently on the scene conducting the investigation into the fire’s origin and cause.  Heavy fire damage was estimated at $200,000.  There were no other injuries.  The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
