The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal investigated a fire that damaged a structure in Georgetown, Delaware on November 9, 2023.

The incident, reported shortly after 2:30 P .M., occurred in the 18000 block of McColley’s Chapel Road Georgetown, Delaware. The Georgetown Fire Company arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the structure. The stand alone garage structure was not occupied at the time of the fire. Mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene.

State fire investigators were called to the scene to perform an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The fire was found to be Accidental in nature and was caused by fire spreading from an adjacent controlled burn. There were no reported injuries to persons or firefighters. Damage is estimated at $50000.
