State Fire Marshal | Date Posted: Friday, February 14, 2025
The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a residential structure fire that was reported on February 13, 2025 shortly before 8:00 PM in the 6000 block of Grist Lane Seaford, Delaware.
The Blades Volunteer Fire Company, Seaford Fire Department and assisting mutual aid fire companies arrived on scene and found heavy flames coming from the first floor of a single-family dwelling. The house was occupied at the time of the fire. The occupants were able to escape from the dwelling assisted by neighbors. A female Victim was transported to Tidal Heath Nanticoke Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries and a male Victim was transported to Christiana Care Christiana Hospital with serious injuries by Delaware State Police helicopter.
Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshal’s responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. It was determined that the fire originated on the first floor of the structure. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The home was equipped with working smoke detectors. Damage is estimated at $500,000.
