The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a multi-family residential structure fire that was reported on October 11, 2025 shortly after 9:00 PM in the 19000 block of Jury Way County Seat Apartments Georgetown, Delaware.

The Georgetown Fire Company and assisting mutual aid fire companies arrived on scene and found a multi-family dwelling with automatic sprinkler system activation. The structure was occupied at the time of the fire, but all occupants were able to safely leave the structure. Further investigation found a fire occurred on an apartment balcony area that had been controlled by the buildings automatic sprinkler system.

Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshal’s responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. The fire was determined to be Accidental in nature and the result of discarded smoking materials. Damage was estimated at $1000. A Firefighter was treated and released for a minor injury that occurred on scene.
