A Superior Court jury convicted a New Castle man who shot and killed one of his co-workers. Deputy Attorneys General Matthew Frawley and John Taylor secured a guilty verdict for 36-year-old Bobby Taylor. In November 2015, Taylor shot and killed Aloysisus Taylor, 41, of Wilmington, at the American Car Wash in the 1900 block of Pulaski Highway in Bear where the two worked as detailers. The jury convicted Taylor of Murder Second Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. During a subsequent bench trial on the severed charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, a Superior Court Judge found Taylor guilty. The Court will sentence Taylor, prohibited from having a gun because of a previous felony conviction on an assault charge, in the upcoming months where he faces a 24-year minimum mandatory sentence.

A 33-year-old Wilmington man pleaded guilty to five robberies of New Castle County businesses. In December 2018, Bryheen Mitchell robbed the Rite-Aid drug store in the 1700 block of Marsh Road. Mitchell gave the cashier a note and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t give him money. In May 2019, Mitchell committed 4 more note-passing robberies at the Walgreens in the University Plaza in Newark, and the 3300 block of Lancaster Pike in Wilmington, a Shell gas station in the 300 block of Chestnut Hill Road in Newark, and the Game Stop store in the Peoples Plaza Shopping Center in Glasgow. Mitchell pleaded guilty to 2 counts of Robbery First Degree and 3 counts of Robbery Second Degree. A Superior Court judge will sentence Mitchell in December. Deputy Attorney General William Raisis prosecuted the cases with the assistance of paralegal Julianne Besznyak and social worker Courtney Cochran.
