The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a residential structure fire that caused significant damage.

On January 29, 2026, at 0300 hours, a fire was reported at 108 Thorn Lane New Castle, Delaware. The Holloway Terrace Fire Company, along with multiple mutual aid fire companies, responded to the scene and found fire showing from the second-floor bedroom of an unoccupied end of the row townhouse. Fire company suppression efforts were initiated and conditions worsened, including partial structural collapse which caused fire fighters to evacuate the residence. During fire suppression efforts a firefighter had his foot go through the second-floor which initiated a “Mayday” that was quickly resolved and the firefighter was taken outside to be evaluated by EMS personnel and refused any medical attention. An exposure townhouse also sustained fire damage.

Investigators from the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office, are investigating the incident.

Damage is estimated at $150,000.00 and no civilian injuries were reported
