Upstate trout season to open April 6 in six New Castle County streams

Delaware’s spring 2013 upstate trout season will open at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife announced today. Six designated trout streams in northern New Castle County – White Clay Creek, Christina Creek, Pike Creek, Beaver Run, Wilson Run and Mill Creek – will be stocked and ready with thousands of rainbow and brown trout, including some trophy-sized fish.

On March 23, artistic entries from students in grades K-12 throughout the state were judged in the 2013 Junior Duck Stamp Contest. Winners are on display at the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center near Milton now through Saturday, March 30.
Volunteers sought for 22nd annual Christina River Cleanup on April 6

DNREC Secretary Collin O’Mara encourages volunteers to join the Christina River Cleanup along the river and several of its tributaries on Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m. until noon at 12 sites throughout northern New Castle County. Due to other activities that day, two sites will begin the cleanup early – the City of Newark at 7:30 a.m. and the Naamans Creek site at 8 a.m.
