DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation to host open house on Brandywine Zoo master plan on June 14

DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation will host an open house for the public to learn about plans for the future of the Brandywine Zoo from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at the zoo’s Education Center, 1001 North Park Drive in Wilmington.

The Delaware Department of Agriculture, DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section and the Delaware Beekeepers Association urge anyone who keeps bees in Delaware to register their bee hives and sign up for all the apps that are available that can help protect the state’s valuable pollinators.

DNREC Secretary Shawn M. Garvin was joined by U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester to celebrate the completion of the Mispillion Harbor restoration. The three-year project restored the area in the wake of damage inflicted by a series of coastal storms including 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, and built resiliency against future storms impacting this vitally important habitat.

Due to construction activities at DNREC’s Richardson & Robbins Building Auditorium, the Tuesday, May 29 meeting of Delaware’s Advisory Council on Wildlife and Freshwater Fish will now be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Little Creek Hunter Education Building, 3018 Bayside Drive, Dover, DE 19901.




Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police Blotter: May 14-20

DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between May 14-20 made 1,256 contacts with anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 29 citations. Officers responded to 50 complaints regarding possible violations of laws and regulations or requests to assist the public.
