DNREC Mosquito Control Section’s spraying season begins with larviciding wooded wetlands

Weather-permitting, DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section within the Division of Fish & Wildlife will begin its annual spring woodland pool spraying campaign Thursday, March 23 downstate and possibly Friday, March 24 upstate, treating wooded wetlands near select populated areas in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties.




DNREC seeks public input on improving state’s air quality using settlement funds from Volkswagen lawsuits

DNREC has learned from federal officials that Delaware can anticipate approximately $9 million from an Environmental Mitigation Trust established through partial settlement of lawsuits against the automakers Volkswagen and Audi for installing emissions “defeat devices” on vehicles in violation of the federal Clean Air Act. The Division of Air Quality will hold a public meeting Thursday, March 23, at 6 p.m. at the State Street Commons Building, 100 W. Water Street, Dover, DE 19904, on Delaware’s proposed environmental mitigation plan from the settlement.

DOVER – The Delaware Office of Boating Safety and Education within DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife joins the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) to encourage boaters to “Spring Aboard,” a March 19-25 nationwide campaign to prepare for boating season by enrolling in a boating safety course.




DNREC issues cease and desist order to Wilmington oil recycling company Heritage-Crystal Clean, LLC for hazardous waste violations

DNREC Secretary David Small has issued a cease and desist order to Heritage-Crystal Clean, LLC for violations of Delaware’s laws and regulations governing hazardous waste management. Heritage-Crystal Clean, LLC (HCC) owns and operates a used oil recycling facility located at 505 South Market Street in Wilmington that previously did business as International Petroleum Corp. (IPC) of Delaware.
