DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announces wild turkey hunters harvested 571 birds in 2018

Delaware’s month-long spring turkey season, which ended May 12, yielded 571 birds, 12.4 percent lower than last year’s harvest of 652 birds, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today.

DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation’s Brandywine Zoo introduces two new red pandas to the public

Brandywine Zoo has made a red panda transfer and introduced two new pandas to the public. The zoo’s new residents are Sherman, a five-year-old male from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology institute in Virginia, and a four-year-old female, named Mohu, from the Blank Park Zoo in Iowa.




Advisory Council on Wildlife and Freshwater Fish June 26 meeting canceled

Delaware’s Advisory Council on Wildlife and Freshwater Fish meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 26 has been canceled.

The next scheduled meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, in DNREC’s R&R Building Auditorium, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901.




M/V Twin Capes, retired Lewes-to-Cape May ferry, sunk to become part of Delaware’s artificial reef system

The M/V Twin Capes, a ferry christened 43 years ago on the Delaware Bay and retired after thousands of runs between her namesakes Cape Henlopen, Delaware, and Cape May, New Jersey, was sunk to become part of Delaware’s acclaimed artificial reef system.
