Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn and Department of Education Secretary Mark Murphy announced the 2013 winners of the state’s Reward and Recognition School Awards, known informally as the state’s Academic Achievement Awards. The announcements were made today in three separate press conferences, one in each county to honor the winners.

And Brandywine Springs elementary social studies instructor Jill Szymanski, who was recently named National History Teacher of the Year for creating lessons like her year-long “Civil War Museum” project, which brings the past to life while developing students’ reading skills.




Delaware Launches Statewide Teacher Recruitment Effort

The state is leading a new effort to recruit top educators to teach in Delaware schools. The campaign, “Join Delaware Schools,” aims to attract the caliber of teachers necessary to realize the state’s vision of a world-class education system for all students.
