DNREC Mosquito Control Section’s spraying season to begin with larviciding wooded wetlands

DNREC’s Mosquito Control Section within the Division of Fish & Wildlife will begin its annual spring woodland pool spraying campaign Saturday, March 17 on wooded wetlands near select populated areas in southern Sussex county, to treat mosquitoes’ immature aquatic larval stages.




DNREC issues Conciliation Order by Consent to Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals, LP addressing alleged air pollution violations

DNREC Secretary Shawn M. Garvin has issued a Conciliation Order by Consent to Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals, LP addressing alleged violations of Delaware’s regulations governing air pollution. The order calls for a cash penalty of $600,000 from Sunoco and an additional $150,000 for an environmental improvement project.




DNREC’s Office of Boating Safety and Education encourages boaters to ‘Spring Aboard’ by taking a boating safety course

DNREC’s Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police Office of Boating Safety and Education joins the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) to encourage boaters to “Spring Aboard,” a March 18-24 nationwide campaign to prepare for boating season by enrolling in a boating safety course.




Three additional private wells in Blades area return test results exceeding EPA’s health advisory level for PFCs

DNREC and the Division of Public Health announced today that three private wells tested Feb. 19 in the Blades area by the US Environmental Protection Agency had returned results exceeding the EPA’s national health advisory level for perfluorinated compounds (PFCs). DNREC and EPA immediately notified the property owners of the test results and provided home carbon filtration systems for their water supply.




DNREC, Public Health now accepting proposals for wastewater, surface water, and drinking water planning grants

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Division of Watershed Stewardship and Office of Environmental Finance, and the Delaware Division of Public Health are now accepting project proposals from state, county and municipal governments, and conservation districts for matching grants for wastewater, surface water, and drinking water project planning. Proposals must be received by 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
