The M/V Twin Capes, a ferry christened 43 years ago on the Delaware Bay and retired after thousands of runs between her namesakes Cape Henlopen, Delaware, and Cape May, New Jersey, was sunk to become part of Delaware’s acclaimed artificial reef system.

To achieve public compliance with laws and regulations through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between June 4-10 made 2,831 contacts with anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 54 citations.




Part of Castle Trail on C&D Canal Conservation Area to close for repairs June 15

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today that a portion of the Mike Castle Trail west of the Lums Pond trailhead on the C&D Canal Conservation Area will be temporarily closed for repairs beginning Friday, June 15.




DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation to feature Victorian Kids Fest on June 16 at Fort Delaware State Park

DNREC’s Fort Delaware State Park will host its annual Victorian Kids Fest from noon-3 p.m., Saturday, June 16. This special event is a collaborative program offered by the Fort Delaware Society and Fort Delaware State Park.

Under mostly cloudy skies that some would call good fishing weather, 213 young anglers and their families gathered Saturday, June 2 at three Delaware ponds for DNREC’s Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police 32nd Annual Youth Fishing Tournament.
