DNREC’s Hunter Education Program reminds hunters to have Delaware Hunter Safety Card when purchasing hunting license

With Delaware’s November shotgun deer hunting season opening Friday, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife’s Hunter Education Program reminds hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1967 that they need to have a Hunter Safety Card as proof of having taken a Basic Hunter Education Safety Course in order to purchase a Delaware hunting license, and also must carry the card while hunting.




With time change, DNREC urges motorists to watch out for deer crossing roadways – especially at dusk

With shorter days ahead – especially after the Nov. 5 change from daylight savings back to Eastern standard time – DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife reminds all Delaware motorists, especially 9-to-5 workers driving home at dusk, to be alert for deer crossing roadways.




Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police Blotter: Oct. 23-29

Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Oct. 23-29 made 788 contacts with hunters, anglers, boaters and the general public, including 62 vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks, issuing 17 citations.




Delaware deer hunting reaches peak in November

Delaware’s November shotgun deer season – which runs from Friday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 19, including Sunday, Nov. 12 – is considered the busiest and most popular of all the deer seasons.




DNREC awarded federal grant to support Delaware’s research, monitoring and response to White-nose Syndrome in state’s bats

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife has been awarded a federal grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to support Delaware’s ongoing research and monitoring and response to the deadly White-nose Syndrome.
