Governor’s Weekly Message: Celebrating Prom and Graduation Season Safely

Former Governor Jack Markell (2009-2017) | News | Date Posted: Friday, May 11, 2012

DOVER – In his weekly address, the Governor talks about prom and graduation season in Delaware, the state’s efforts to raise awareness about the safety issues that often accompany this time of year and the critical role parents play in keeping our young people safe.

“As the father of two teenagers myself, I understand the distractions, the peer pressure and the temptations that abound,” said Governor Markell.  “Let’s thank the proud Moms and Dads who drove the carpools, helped with homework, or made the lunches that helped get their children to graduation day.  By doing so, you not only shaped your family’s future, you helped shaped our community’s future as collectively, we all work to keep Delaware – and our young people – moving forward. ”

At noon every Friday, the Governor’s office releases a new Weekly Message in video, audio, and transcript form.  The message is available on:
