The National Science Foundation has announced that it is funding a major initiative to help prepare educators in Maryland and Delaware to teach climate change science in the classroom.

The Governor joined Correction Commissioner Carl Danberg and Safety and Homeland Security Secretary Lew Schiliro to conduct a live demonstration of the system that supports communication. For the first time, the new system allows communication between facilities and directly with the first responder community.

The Governor talks about Delaware’s first group of young students, kindergartners and first-graders, who begin learning in Spanish and in Chinese this year, as part of the state’s inaugural World Language Immersion program. The program will help students prepare to eventually compete for jobs in the global marketplace.
