Wilmington – Attorney General Beau Biden announced today that a proactive online undercover Child Predator Task Force Investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography has led to the arrest of a Bear man on multiple counts.
“Thanks to the proactive efforts of the Child Predator Task Force to protect our kids we’re helping to reduce the threat from predators across our state,” Biden said.
During the online investigation detectives obtained several files containing child pornography, and additional investigation and surveillance led to the execution of a search warrant on January 24 at a residence on Landau Way in Bear on January by Task Force Detectives and a uniformed Trooper from DSP Troop #2. Multiple computers, cameras, storage devices, and other digital evidence were seized and a person of interest was identified and taken to Troop #2 for further investigation.
A forensic preview of the evidence revealed more than 25 images and videos of child pornography. As a result, the person of interest, John William Crowley, age 40, was arrested and charged with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography. He was arraigned via videophone by JP Court #2 and was taken to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.
Investigators determined that Crowley was currently renting a room in the residence from the homeowner who was determined not to be involved in the offenses.
