DOVER – Governor Jack Markell today announced his nomination of a dedicated and experienced lawyer for a position on the Court of Common Pleas.  This afternoon, Governor Markell announced his nomination of Sheldon K. Rennie for appointment to the Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Rennie has been nominated to fill the vacancy created when the Hon. Andrea L. Rocanelli was confirmed as a Superior Court Judge.

“Sheldon Rennie is a hardworking attorney, with a proven track record,” said Governor Markell.  “I am confident that his experience in the private sector and the wide array of practice areas in which he has worked have prepared him to make an immediate and positive contribution to the finest state judicial system in the country.”

Since 2001, Mr. Rennie has practiced law as a partner at Fox Rothschild LLP.  He is experienced in representing national and international clients in Delaware corporate and business litigation. Also since 2001, Mr. Rennie has served as an adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law.  Among other prior positions, Mr. Rennie worked as an associate for Pricket Jones & Elliot, P.A.

“I am honored and humbled to be nominated by Governor Markell for this prestigious position,” said Rennie. “If confirmed by the Senate, I look forward to serving the people of Delaware as a member of our state’s Court of Common Pleas with an intense focus on upholding the Court’s reputation of justice and excellence.”

A graduate of Villanova University School of Law, Mr. Rennie received a B.A. and M.S. in criminal justice from Long Island University.

In addition to Judge Rocanelli, Mr. Rennie is one of several individuals nominated for judgeships by Governor Markell in recent weeks.  On May 31, Governor Markell nominated the Hon.  Jan R. Jurden for reappointment to the Superior Court and the Hon. Robert B. Coonin for reappointment to Family Court.  It is expected that the Senate will consider the nominations of Mr. Rennie, Judge Jurden, and Judge Coonin prior to the close of session on June 30.
