A Superior Court jury has convicted a Wilmington man for his central role in a June 2016 murder.

Witness testimony, cell phone evidence, and collaboration with an FBI task force demonstrated that Brian Wilson, also known as Fudayl Wakim, arranged the murder of Allen Cannon through a $10,000 bounty and a conspiracy with co-defendant Eric Ray and the late Robert Teat, III, also known as Bobby Dimes. Witness testimony described the murder as an act of retaliation over a robbery.

Wilson was found guilty as charged of Murder First Degree, Conspiracy First Degree, and Criminal Solicitation First Degree and will be sentenced at a date to be determined. Wilson, who is already serving a 21-year federal sentence for drug trafficking, will face a mandatory life sentence. Ray faces trial in March.

Deputy Attorneys General Mark Denney and Michael Cooksey secured Wilson’s conviction after years of collaboration with local, state, and federal partners. Also instrumental in the investigation and prosecution were Sgt. Robert Fox of the Wilmington Police Department; Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris de Barrena-Sarobe; FBI Baltimore’s Violent Crimes Task Force; the U.S. Marshal Service; DOJ Paralegal Jaime Prater; DOJ Social Workers Jessica Quillen and Carol Taylor; DOJ Administrative Assistant Evelyn Davis; and DOJ Trial Management Analyst Ted Griffin.
