DOVER, Del. — Governor Matt Meyer today announced the nomination of Kyle Lachmund to serve as Vice Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery.

“Kyle Lachmund has built his career around Delaware corporate law and the Court of Chancery, the world’s leading business court,” said Governor Meyer. “His experience as a director in the corporate litigation department of a premier Delaware firm, as an associate at a leading national firm, and as a former law clerk on the Court of Chancery has earned him the respect of the bar and a reputation for excellence in a demanding field. With his tremendous work ethic and deep understanding of Delaware corporate law, he will serve the people of Delaware with fairness, discipline, and integrity.”

The nomination will be submitted to the Delaware Senate for confirmation.

About Kyle Lachmund

Kyle Lachmund is currently a Director in the Corporate Litigation department at Richards, Layton & Finger, P.A. in Wilmington, where he has practiced since February 2021. His work focuses on shareholder litigation, corporate governance disputes, and commercial cases in Delaware’s state courts, primarily the Court of Chancery. He has worked as both co-counsel with national law firms and as sole counsel representing a wide variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, technology start-ups, private equity and venture capital firms, as well as directors, officers, and executives of companies of all kinds.

Before joining Richards, Layton & Finger, Lachmund was an associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York from October 2017 to January 2021, where he litigated shareholder and corporate governance disputes in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Lachmund began his legal career as a law clerk to Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster in the Delaware Court of Chancery from August 2016 to August 2017, assisting with judicial opinions and orders across a range of complex civil matters, including shareholder litigation, books and records cases, appraisal proceedings, property disputes, trusts, guardianships, defamation, breach of contract, and fraud.

Lachmund holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif and magna cum laude and served as Articles Editor of the NYU Annual Survey of American Law. He earned a B.A. in history from the University of Oregon.

Lachmund is admitted to practice law in Delaware and New York.
