State will not move forward with current proposed anti-discrimination regulation

The Delaware Department of Education announced on Thursday that it will not be moving forward to finalize the current proposed version of Regulation 225. The department received more than 6,000 comments in response to the revised proposed 225 Prohibition of Discrimination Regulation, which was published in the June Register of Regulations. Those comments now are available online for public review.

The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association [DIAA] offers an annual statewide competition in sportsmanship. The member schools compete against a set of ten standards that measure the school community’s commitment to the educational nature of interscholastic athletics. The process is demanding and involves the total school community. Member schools submit a portfolio that is judged by the Sportsmanship Committee to determine if each school has successfully met the standards.

Highly skilled students and advisors from across Delaware brought home honors from the 54th annual National SkillsUSA Leadership Conference last month in Louisville, Kentucky. Delaware students represented our state in competitive events such as: architectural drafting, automotive service technology, aviation maintenance technology, carpentry, computer programming, cosmetology, criminal justice, diesel equipment technology, electronics technology, extemporaneous speaking, heating, ventilation, air conditioning & refrigeration, industrial motor controls, information technology, masonry, plumbing, prepared speech, technical math, welding, and more.

More than 100 students and advisers from across the State of Delaware joined nearly 10,000 other members the 41st annual HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. Delaware students represented the First State in competitive events, including: medical math, epidemiology, physical therapy, forensic medicine, dental science, medical assisting, biomedical laboratory science, and more.
