Alapocas Run State Park’s Can-Do Playground to celebrate 10th anniversary

DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation and the Wilmington Area Rotary Club’s Community Fund will host a 10th anniversary celebration of the Can-Do Playground in Alapocas Run State Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15. The celebration, open to the public, will feature family-friendly activities, including a “Nature on the Go” cart and the Brandywine Traveling Zoo, along with free giveaways for the first 200 guests.

WILMINGTON – The state-owned parking lot at Bancroft Mills used for accessing the southern portion of Alapocas Run State Park along the Brandywine River will close for public use July 10, DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation announced today. The closure is necessary for demolition of nearby abandoned mill buildings and redevelopment of the site, and will remain in effect until further notice.




DNREC announces that first phase of new Tri-Valley Trail in White Clay Creek State Park to open to the public July 4

NEWARK – The much-anticipated Tri-Valley Trail, located in White Clay Creek State Park north of Newark, will open to the public on July 4, DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation announced today. The first 1.9-mile Phase I section connects Paper Mill and Thompson Station roads to a new trailhead at the intersection of Smith Mill and Paper Mill roads.




Bellevue State Park to celebrate its 40th anniversary

Bellevue State Park is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and the staff and the Friends of Bellevue State Park invite the public to join the celebration with all kinds of family-friendly activities and fun for all ages 11 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2. The park will waive its entry fee for the day.
