Governor Appoints Interim Leadership of Two Cabinet Agencies

Governor Jack Markell announced today his appointment of two experienced state leaders to serve as acting cabinet officials at the Department of Correction (DOC) and Department of Services for Children, Youth and Families (DSCYF) while he searches to fill those positions on a permanent basis.




Governor Orders American, Delaware Flags Flown at Half-Staff to Honor Former Adjutant General Arthur Episcopo

Governor Markell ordered the American and Delaware flags at state buildings and facilities be flown at half-staff beginning Wednesday, February 6th until the close of business Thursday, February 7th in honor of former Adjutant General Arthur Episcopo.

Earlier this week, we shared some exciting news regarding Delaware’s public education system – next school year, nearly 1000 kindergarteners and first graders will be enrolled in our world language immersion program, spending half their school day learning in either Chinese or Spanish. Over the next decade, we expect that number to reach 10,000. It’s one of many ways we’re working to create a world class education system.

Beginning February 1st, the Governor’s Office, Children’s Department, the Department of Health and Social Services and the Delaware Libraries will begin using Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr to launch a month-long donation effort to the children at the Terry Center.
