To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Oct. 31-Nov. 6 made 1,666 contacts with anglers, hunters, boaters and the general public, including 112 vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks. Officers responded to 34 complaints regarding possible violations of laws and regulations.

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife reminds hunters of the four remaining Sunday deer hunting opportunities for the 2016/2017 hunting season. The first of this season’s five Sunday deer hunting days – Oct. 9 during the muzzleloader deer season – was a success, according to the Wildlife Section, providing hunters additional hunting opportunities with 116 deer registered that were harvested that day.

For thousands of Delaware deer hunters, their favorite time of year afield is squarely in sight, with projections pointing to another bountiful harvest during the state’s early shotgun deer season – which runs from Friday, Nov. 11 thru Sunday, Nov. 20, including Sunday, Nov. 13.
