The Buena Vista Holiday Open House in New Castle, Del., scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, has been cancelled.




DE Children’s Dept. Cuts Ribbon on Juvenile Multi-Purpose Education Facility

Governor Jack Markell, Secretary Jennifer Ranji of the Delaware Children’s Department, her staff, and nearly 70 other special guests braved the cold on Thursday, December 12th for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the Department’s new Juvenile Multi-Purpose Education Facility. The nearly 14-thousand square foot state of the art building, which sits on the Agency’s administrative campus near Newport, will be the new educational home for youth who are committed to the Department’s Level IV Residential Cottages.




“Starry Hospitality Night” on Dec. 5 kicks off Zwaanendael Museum’s seasonal programming

Holiday-themed program includes star-gazing in celebration of Delaware astronomer Annie Jump Cannon plus Bill Ayrey, lab manager and company historian from ILC Dover demonstrating the space suit that the company manufactures for NASA.




Recipients of $2.1M in After School Prevention Funding Announced

Governor Jack Makell and Lt. Governor Matt Denn join DSCYF Secretary Jennifer Ranji to announce the recipients of $2.1M in after school and summer prevention funding.




Civil rights, slavery and Delaware in the 1940s to be featured at the museums of the state of Delaware in January 2014

Ten special programs to be offered during the month.
