Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Act Regulatory Advisory Committee to meet Aug. 21 in New Castle

The third meeting of the Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Act Regulatory Advisory Committee (RAC) will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Buena Vista Conference Center, in New Castle.

After extensive stakeholder input and a public nomination process, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary Shawn M. Garvin announced members of the Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Regulatory Advisory Committee and the committee’s chair. The Regulatory Advisory Committee (RAC) will provide guidance and feedback to DNREC on development of Coastal Zone regulations that are required to be in place for issuance of conversion permits by Oct. 1, 2019.

DNREC to hold public workshops, Wednesday, Nov. 29 and Thursday, Nov. 30, seeking input on Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Act regulatory process

DOVER – Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will hold two public workshops this week seeking input as DNREC begins the regulatory process for developing regulations for the Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Act, which Governor John Carney signed into law in August. The act requires the Department to develop and promulgate regulations for the redevelopment of 14 heavy-industrial use sites in Delaware’s Coastal Zone by Oct. 1, 2019. The Nov. 29 and 30 workshops will provide the public an opportunity to comment on the process the Department will use to develop regulations for the conversion permits DNREC will issue for sites to be redeveloped.




DNREC announces initiation of process to develop regulations for Coastal Zone Conversion Permits

Today the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) announced the initiation of the process to amend Delaware Coastal Zone Act regulations to incorporate the provisions of the Coastal Zone Conversion Permit Act (HB190). Governor John Carney signed HB190 into law on Aug. 2. The Act authorizes DNREC to issue permits for construction and operation of new heavy industry uses at 14 existing heavy industry use sites within the state’s Coastal Zone.
