Delaware Recycling Public Advisory Council to meet Wednesday, May 1 in Dover

DOVER – Delaware’s Recycling Public Advisory Council (RPAC) will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at DNREC’s State Street Commons Offices located at 100 W. Water Street, Dover, DE 19904. The RPAC meeting agenda can be found on the state’s Public Meeting Calendar. The Recycling Public Advisory Council was enacted into law by Senate Bill 234 in May 2010, and charged with advising the Governor’s Office, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and the Delaware Solid Waste Authority on all aspects of recycling, including: methodology for measuring recycling rates; development of grant criteria and selection of applications; and possible outreach activities designed to achieve higher recycling rates.
DNREC to hold April 30 workshop on solicitation of watershed implementation projects

DOVER – The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Division of Watershed Stewardship will host a workshop for a special solicitation of watershed implementation projects from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, April 30, in Dover, at the Kent County Administration Building, Room 222, 555 South Bay Road, Dover, DE 19901. The workshop will focus on proposals for implementing new projects specifically designed to restore water quality as part of specific Delaware priority watershed improvement plans. Projects funded under the special solicitation will have the benefit of a zero percent loan interest rate, and no accrual of loan interest through project completion.
DNREC determines deluge water used to contain Croda, Inc.’s 2018 ethylene oxide release did not impact the environment

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has concluded that there was no increased risk to human health or safety from deluge water used to contain the Nov. 25, 2018 ethylene oxide (EO) release at Croda’s Atlas Point facility. DNREC’s conclusion was made from a soil and groundwater sampling report required of Croda by the Department as part of a settlement agreement with DNREC in the aftermath of the EO incident.

DOVER – To achieve public compliance with laws and regulations through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC’s Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between April 1-7 made 1,233 contacts with hunters, anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 19 citations. Officers responded to 49 complaints regarding possible violations of laws and regulations or requests to assist the public. A Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police presence continued at the C&D Canal Conservation Area and Michael N. Castle Trail.
