DPH Records 650 Flu Cases in One Week; Fourth Flu Death Reported

The Division of Public Health (DPH) reports that there were 650 lab-confirmed flu cases recorded between January 21 and January 27. The highest single-week total in the 2016-2017 flu season was 571. The surge in flu cases comes with additional news that a fourth person has died of flu-related complications in Delaware.

The EPA,with support from DNREC, will hold a public meeting on the proposed listing of the Hockessin Groundwater Site to the National Priorities List (NPL). The NPL is EPA’s list of sites eligible for remedial action financed under the federal Superfund program. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Hockessin.




DPH Announces Third Flu Death of the 2017-2018 Season; First Sussex County Resident Death

A third person has died as a result of complications due to the flu since the start of the 2017-2018 flu season in October. The Division of Public Health (DPH) announced that a 76-year-old Sussex County man passed away over the weekend in a New Castle County hospital. The man who had several underlying health conditions, is the first flu-related death from Sussex County this season.
