Responding to state Supreme Court ruling, DNREC again must adopt interim emergency sediment and stormwater regulations

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has adopted interim emergency sediment and stormwater management regulations – in effect reinstating the 2014 regulations invalidated today by Delaware’s Supreme Court, with the high court’s opinion upholding a Superior Court decision issued last fall.




Open house for new Flood Risk Maps for Kent and Sussex Counties set for April 20 in Milford

DNREC and FEMA will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, at the Carlisle Fire Company Hall in Milford, to inform the public about new preliminary flood risk maps for parts of Kent and Sussex Counties.

Almost one thousand hardy volunteers who turned out in the face of cold and snow for DNREC’s 27th Annual Beach Grass Planting March 19 enabled the planting this year of more than five miles of Delaware shoreline with Cape American beachgrass that helps protect and preserve the state’s dune system.

A Kent County student was recently named the second place winner nationwide in the National Association of Conservation Districts’ (NACD) conservation poster contest, themed “Local Heroes – Your Hardworking Pollinators.”
