Enhanced assessments to elevate science instruction

For more than a year, Delaware educators have been working collaboratively across districts and charter schools to create a system of assessments that measures students’ true science mastery. Phase I of the assessment planning began in Fall 2016 when students and educators participated in a research and development process to create test items. Final drafts of these items are now available online for all educators to use in classrooms.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Nearly one in four women, and one in nine men, will experience domestic violence, in their lifetime, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Delaware, that translates to 136,000 women and approximately 108,000 men who have been impacted. As October draws to a close, the Division of Public Health (DPH) is highlighting Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the long-term health impacts of this important social issue.




DPH Confirms First Influenza Cases for 2017-2018 Flu Season

The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) is reporting the state’s first laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza for the 2017-2018 flu season. Six individuals have been diagnosed with the flu to date in October.
