DNREC is proceeding with a Statewide Activity Approval permitting process that would enable the start-up of limited commercial shellfish aquaculture in Delaware’s Inland Bays by authorizing the permitting of activities in specifically-designated areas intended to help improve water quality and provide new business opportunities.




Governor Signs Law Bringing Economic and Environmental Benefits of Aquaculture to Delaware

Governor Markell signed House Bill 160 to permit shellfish aquaculture in Delaware’s Inland Bays, allowing the state to reap the economic benefits of a multimillion dollar industry while improving water quality in the bays.
