Checkpoint Strikeforce Week 1 Results

A total of one hundred people were arrested statewide last week for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or drugs. Two DUI checkpoints are scheduled for this weekend in Newark and Dover.




Don’t Let a DUI Redefine Your Night

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety along with law enforcement across the state are cracking down on impaired driving and launching the 15th Annual Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign this holiday weekend. Last year alcohol was involved in 54 percent of the 111 fatal crashes, which resulted in 67 individuals killed. The first DUI checkpoint will be held Friday July 3rd in Newport.




Drug Recognition Experts on Patrol in Delaware

A new crackdown on impaired driving in Delaware will start June 26th. Delaware’s twelve drug recognition expert officers (DRE) statewide will be focused on removing drug impaired drivers from behind the wheel. They will also be on call to assist with suspected drug impaired drivers stopped by non DRE officers.




Be a Saint. Drive Sober.

St. Patrick’s Day brings to mind shamrocks, leprechauns, pots of gold, and good luck. But don’t rely on luck to can save you from a drunk-driving crash. The New Castle County DUI Task Force will be conducting a DUI checkpoint near Wilmington this Saturday the 14th to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day festivities in the city.

The Super Bowl is America’s most watched national sporting event. On Super Bowl Sunday, February 1, there will be lots of game day socializing that may include drinking. OHS and law enforcement officials are urging football fans to choose sides now: drinking OR driving.
