Dover – The first motorcycle fatality of the year occurred in Dover on April 2nd and was quickly followed by a double motorcycle fatality in Newark on April 4th. According to Police reports, excessive speeding, no driver’s license (no motorcycle rider training), and failure to yield are factors in these crashes.




OHS Announces Start of Motorcycle Safety Campaign

Dover – Motorcycle crashes have been on the rise nationally for the past ten years. And in the last five, while fatal crashes involving a motorcyclist in Delaware have gone up and down, injury crashes have steadily increased. That is why the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) has launched a new Motorcycle Safety campaign titled Respect Your Ride. This campaign, aimed at motorcyclists, directs riders to www.MotorcyclesafetyDE.org, where they can find information about the proper tools and training to make them the safest rider they can be.




New Legislation Would Work to Put Veterans to Work

Standing with veterans and members of the Delaware National Guard, Governor Jack Markell and legislative leaders today announced a new effort to help put recent combat veterans to work when they return from service. The “Veterans Opportunity Tax Credit” would give companies a $1,500 annual tax credit for each recent veteran they hired.
