Joint Statement from the Delaware Department of Justice and the Harford County State’s Attorney

Criminal Division | Department of Justice | Department of Justice Press Releases | Date Posted: Monday, October 23, 2017

Prosecutors from the Delaware Department of Justice and the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office conferred today on the criminal prosecutions of Radee Prince and agreed that Prince should be tried for his Delaware offenses first and then tried for his Maryland crimes. In Delaware, Prince faces charges of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Resisting Arrest. Prince faces a maximum prison term of life without parole. Prince will also face the possibility of life sentences in Maryland for three counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. One of the bases for the procedural decision is that Delaware criminal sentencing law does not provide for parole, whereas parole may be available under Maryland law, meaning that a Delaware sentence will have more certainty. Prince will ultimately face trials in both states, Delaware’s proceeding will simply occur first.

Delaware Attorney General Matt Denn and Harford County State’s Attorney Joseph I. Cassilly praised the work of local, state, and federal authorities in apprehending Prince. Their offices will work to provide justice for all impacted by these horrific acts.
