Forwood garden promotes real-world science instruction

Beginning in the fall, Forwood’s sensory garden will elevate science instruction in areas like plant life cycles, ecosystems, and insects. Students will have an opportunity to measure plant heights and record observations in their real environment. These types of opportunities align to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) that help districts and charter schools set the expectations for what students should learn in science and know by the end of each grade level.
Middletown program gives students college experience

Middletown High School’s DSU Early Bird program for male students of color gives students the chance to earn both college credits in high school and a taste of what college will be like. For Middletown High School, the program has been a success and another way to ensure students are on track to enroll in and graduate from college.

State of Delaware experiences fraudulent tax-filing attempts

The Delaware Division of Revenue has experienced several attempts by unknown persons to file fraudulent income tax returns for the 2014 filing season using stolen identities. The fraudulent filing attempts have originated from data that was compromised through a third-party commercial tax-preparation software database. All information in Delaware’s tax database remains secure and at no point was Delaware’s online filing system compromised.
