DOVER – The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, joined by Croda company officials, will hold a meeting Aug. 14 to update the public about actions taken since Croda’s Nov. 25, 2018 accidental ethylene oxide release, and steps moving forward for Croda. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug.14 at McCullough Middle School, 20 Chase Avenue, New Castle, DE 19720.

The US Air Force and Dover Air Force Base have notified Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and Division of Public Health, that four wells near the base sampled by the federal government for perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), have returned elevated levels of PFOS and PFOA above the US Environmental Protection Agency’s health advisory for these substances of 70 parts per trillion (ppt).
DNREC, Delaware City Refining Company, LLC agree to penalty settlements on refinery’s outstanding air violations

DOVER – The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) announced today that it has signed a settlement agreement with the Delaware City Refining Company, LLC (DCRC) over pending air quality permit appeals and violations concerning the company’s Delaware City refinery. Terms of the settlement agreement call for DCRC to pay an administrative penalty of $950,000, while DNREC through the agreement will provide public notice of proposed changes to the Regulation 1102 permits under appeal by DCRC. Once DNREC issues revised air permits, DCRC has agreed in the settlement to dismiss its permit appeals.
DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation to host open house July 30 on White Clay Creek State Park draft master plan

DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation has created a draft master plan for White Clay Creek State Park, and will host an open house for the public to provide comments and ask questions. The open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Deerfield, at 507 Thompson Station Road, in Newark.
