Community Involvement Advisory Council to meet April 16

The Community Involvement Advisory Council (CIAC) will hold a meeting from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16 at the Smyrna Service Center, 200 South DuPont Highway.

To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, between April 3 and April 9 DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Enforcement agents made 1,135 contacts with hunters, anglers, boaters and the general public, including 12 boating safety/fishing regulation compliance checks.




DNREC announces preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps for portions of Kent County now available from FEMA

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has announced that preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps for portions of Kent County have been released by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The preliminary maps are available online at www.rampp-team.com/de.htm

Earlier this week, I was honored to join with hundreds of students at the University of Delaware for a rally on marriage equality. As you can see from this footage – the atmosphere was energizing. It has been remarkable to be engaged in the fast-moving transformation of public opinion on the issue of marriage equality – momentum that can be attributed, in large part, to our youth. Much as the civil rights and women’s liberation movements served as a call-to-action for young adults of the 60s and 70s, debating issues like marriage equality and gender identity will become defining moments in their lifetime. And yet, for many of them, the current debate leaves them perplexed.
