All Delaware State Parks and DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife facilities – including state wildlife areas – will close at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 in anticipation of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy’s projected path through and impact on the Mid-Atlantic region, including Delaware.




Governor Markell Honors Winners of 27th Annual Youth Fishing Tournament at Delaware State Fair

The three top trophy winners in the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife’s 27th Annual Youth Fishing Tournament were honored today at the Delaware State Fair, where Governor Jack Markell, DNREC Secretary Collin O’Mara and U.S. EPA Region III Administrator Shawn M. Garvin presented them with their trophies.




Delaware State Parks to Expand Tobacco Free Areas

Tobacco free areas in certain sections of Delaware’s state parks will be expanded beginning July 1, 2012. Areas newly affected will include designated swim beaches and trails, boardwalks and bath houses, fishing piers, general picnic areas and youth camps, and other areas.




Air Quality Improvements Unveiled At Trinity Port Services In New Castle

A cooperative project that improves Delaware air quality and the quality of life for neighborhood residents was unveiled today at a ceremony at Trinity Port Services in New Castle. Twenty electrified outlets that power refrigerated storage containers at the company’s Rogers Road site have replaced the use of diesel generators, significantly reducing air pollutants, diesel fumes and noise in the community.




State Issues Permit to Transform NRG Dover Energy Center

Governor Jack Markell and DNREC Secretary Collin O’Mara announced that an air quality construction permit has been issued to NRG Energy Center Dover for a project that will transform its current coal-fueled facility in Kent County into one of the nation’s cleanest power plants.
