DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announces youth hunting days for 2019/20 hunting season

To promote youth hunting participation and recruitment, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife has designated special deer and waterfowl hunting days available to youth hunters ages 10 through 15 on both public and private lands statewide. Youth hunters can enjoy youth waterfowl hunting days on Saturday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020.




Part of Castle Trail on C&D Canal Conservation Area temporarily closed for repairs and to reroute damaged portion

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced today that, effective immediately, an approximately 150-yard portion of the Michael Castle Trail on the C&D Canal Conservation Area has been closed in order to repair and reroute a portion of the trail that is failing and experiencing structural damage. The closed section begins about 200 yards east of the Biddle Point trailhead.




DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announces new Delaware state record blue catfish catch

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife has confirmed a new state record in the Delaware Sport Fishing Tournament: a 43-inch, 47.75-pound blue catfish caught Aug. 31 on the Nanticoke River by Colt Williamson of Harrington.




DNREC Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police Blotter: Sept. 2 – 8

To achieve public compliance with laws and regulations through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC’s Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Sept. 2-8 made 2,322 contacts with hunters, anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 31 citations.

To achieve public compliance with laws and regulations through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC’s Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Aug. 12-18 made 3,342 contacts with anglers, boaters, and the general public, issuing 48 citations.
