Delaware Teacher of the Year reflects on past year
In October, I will attend the DE STOY banquet that names the next winner of this humbling award. I will offer advice to the blessed educator who is in for a life-changing year, and publicly thank the state for bestowing this incredible honor on me, a gal from Felton, DE who loves books and yoga and belly laughs.
Academy prepares students for education jobs
Part of the state’s Pathways to Prosperity program, the Delaware K-12 Teacher Academy is designed to provide students hands-on experience and early college credit in the high-skilled, in-demand career field of education. At the same time, the program is designed to build a pipeline of high-quality, local students who want to transition into the teaching profession.
Top mathematics, science teachers recognized
Seven Delaware teachers have been named finalists for the highest recognition that K-12 mathematics and science teachers can receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. These finalists will be honored at a banquet in Dover on November 9, alongside the state’s Lifetime Achievement Award winners, who will be named at the event.
Delaware 2018 Teacher of the Year to be named
One of 20 outstanding public school teachers from across the state will be named Delaware’s 2018 Teacher of the Year a week from tonight.
Survey gives educators voice on workplace strengths, needs
School leadership is the working condition that most affects a teacher’s willingness to stay working in their school, according to the more than 4,000 Delaware educators who responded to the 2017 TELL (Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning) Delaware survey.
