DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation to host open house July 30 on White Clay Creek State Park draft master plan

DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation has created a draft master plan for White Clay Creek State Park, and will host an open house for the public to provide comments and ask questions. The open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Deerfield, at 507 Thompson Station Road, in Newark.




DNREC’s Polly Drummond Hill Road demonstration yard waste site to open April 6 and close June 30

DOVER – DNREC’s Polly Drummond Hill demonstration yard waste drop-off site in northern New Castle County, which has been in intermittent operation since 2007, will open on April 6, 2019 and then will be permanently closed on June 30, 2019. After that, yard waste material will no longer be accepted at the Polly Drummond Hill site. The site will be restored to its natural state and will be included in the White Clay Creek State Park master planning process.

DNREC’s Division of Parks & Recreation has announced that White Clay Creek State Park sustained damage from flooding due to heavy rains this morning, forcing closure of some parts of the park and cancellation of affiliated activities.




DNREC Environmental Crimes Unit K-9 officer apprehends fugitive wanted for assaulting Maryland police officer

A DNREC Natural Resources Police K-9 officer apprehended a man Aug. 9 who fled when Park Rangers sought to question him as a person of interest in a series of recent break-ins at White Clay Creek State Park, and who was later identified as a fugitive accused of assaulting a Maryland police officer.
