Wilmington – A Delaware Child Predator Task Force investigation into the online distribution of child pornography has led to the arrest of a Middletown man, Attorney General Beau Biden announced today.

“Thanks to our use of the latest technology which allows us to identify those who receive and transmit child pornography, and also our strong partnership with Middletown Police and other agencies who commit staff and resources to this effort, we’re effectively tracking down predators who threaten our kids and taking them off the streets,” Biden said.

The investigation led detectives to identify a location where child pornography images were being sent and received.  A search warrant for that location, a residence on the 800 block of Woodline Drive, Middletown Village, Middletown, was executed June 6 by members of the Child Predator Task Force and Middletown Police Department.  During the search, multiple computers and other assorted digital media were seized, and a person of interest, 48 year-old Charles H. Hurd, Jr., a resident of the address, was identified and taken to the Middletown Police Department for further investigation.  A forensic examination of the seized evidence at the Middletown Police Department revealed multiple images of child pornography, including an image of a pre-teen girl engaged in a sex act with an adult male.

As a result of the investigation, Hurd was arrested and charged with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography.  He was arraigned via videophone by JP Court #2 and was taken to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $1.5 million secured bail
