Biden: Investigation of State Medical Examiner’s drug lab reveals systemic failings, urgent need for reform

Attorney General Beau Biden today issued a preliminary report outlining the findings of a joint Department of Justice/Delaware State Police investigation into the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Controlled Substances Unit (“CSU”).

On the eve of Cape Henlopen State Park’s 50th anniversary, hiking and biking trail fans, elected officials, park visitors and local residents today came out to celebrate the long anticipated official opening of the Gordons Pond Trail at the park. The new 3.2-mile trail is part of Governor Jack Markell’s Trails and Pathways Initiative, providing a key link in a 15-mile regional trail system connecting Lewes and Rehoboth Beach including the existing Junction and Breakwater Trail.

Today, Governor Jack Markell and Delaware’s Congressional Delegation of U.S. Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons and Rep. John Carney and DNREC Sec. Collin O’Mara announced that the state has received $6.9 million in federal funding to design and construct projects for Delaware Bay wetland and beach habitats that will minimize coastal flooding and enhance the resiliency of communities and ecosystems degraded by storms, including Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The funding will support Delaware’s efforts to protect lands, infrastructure, and communities along the Bayshore from future coastal storms and sea level rise.




Secretary of State Signs Emergency Rule to Place Requirements on Prescription of Hydrocodone

Prior to prescribing an extended-release hydrocodone that is manufactured without an ADF, the medical practitioner shall conduct and document a thorough medical evaluation and physical examination as part of the patient’s medical record.




Sentencing Reform Legislation Passes General Assembly
