DOVER – Delaware is taking action again to reduce detrimental impacts of poor air quality coming into the state from upwind sources, with DNREC seeking to have the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency find that the Homer City, Pa. Generating Station is emitting these air pollutants in violation of the federal Clean Air Act (CAA).

DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife reminds hunters of the four remaining Sunday deer hunting opportunities for the 2016/2017 hunting season. The first of this season’s five Sunday deer hunting days – Oct. 9 during the muzzleloader deer season – was a success, according to the Wildlife Section, providing hunters additional hunting opportunities with 116 deer registered that were harvested that day.

For thousands of Delaware deer hunters, their favorite time of year afield is squarely in sight, with projections pointing to another bountiful harvest during the state’s early shotgun deer season – which runs from Friday, Nov. 11 thru Sunday, Nov. 20, including Sunday, Nov. 13.




State Funding Available to Help Fix Distressed Cemeteries

The Division of Public Health would like to remind property owners that funding is available to support the many small and older cemeteries that often lack the funds for long-term care and maintenance. The Distressed Cemetery Fund was established in 2009 to provide for the preservation of cemeteries by supporting repair and improvement projects that are outside normal maintenance activities. Cemeteries must be registered before they can apply for Distressed Cemetery Funds.
