DPH Announces Potential Young Child Death From Flu

Even as flu season in Delaware is winding down, the Division of Public Health (DPH) is announcing a potential flu-related death to a child under the age of 2. If confirmed, that would bring the total number of flu-related fatalities for the 2016-2017 flu season to 15. The child passed away near the end of April. To protect the privacy of the child and the family no further information about the child will be released.




Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs to sponsor seven special events during May 2017

Highlights include Dover Days presentations, the Zwaanendael Museum’s Sixth Annual Maritime Festival, and A Day in Old New Castle.




Office of Animal Welfare Shares Dog Bite Prevention Tips

In recognition of Dog Bite Prevention Week from April 9 to 15, 2017 the Division of Public Health Office of Animal Welfare (OAW) aims to reduce dog bite occurrences with useful tips for anyone who comes in contact with dogs. Dog bites are often preventable with responsible dog ownership and correct behavior around dogs. In 2016, 1,564 dog bites to humans were reported to the Delaware Division of Public Health. Owners may be liable if their dog bites a person or another animal, but having control of one’s dog can greatly decrease bite risks.




“Lost off Lewes: The British warship DeBraak”

Tours explore the surviving hull section of an 18th-century shipwreck.
