Location changed for Chautauqua Tent Show in Lewes, Del. on Monday, June 10, 2013

Due to heavy rainfall, the venue for the Monday, June 10, 2013 “Chautauqua Tent Show: ‘America Takes Flight’” has been moved from the Lewes Historical Society to the Lewes Presbyterian Church.




“Shall Faithfully Serve!” at Dover, Del.’s John Dickinson Plantation on June 15, 2013

Program exploring indentured servitude. Participants will symbolically sign an indenture form with a quill pen, after which they will be assigned 18th century chores such as preparing wool for spinning, weaving and carding; kindling gathering for the smokehouse and cleaning. During their free time, participants will have a chance to play Colonial games, enjoy a house tour or explore the grounds.




Delaware Offers Tax Credit for First-Time Homebuyers

Governor Jack Markell joined Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) Director Anas Ben Addi and other federal, state and local officials to celebrate Delaware Homeownership Month and to announce a new program that will allow first-time homebuyers to claim a credit on their federal income taxes.




Governor Signs School Choice Reform, Keeps Pledge from State-of-the-State

After vowing in his State of the State 2013 to address unfair burdens of the school choice system on Delaware families, Governor Jack Markell signed legislation (House Bill 90) today to simplify the application process and help ensure students can attend their chosen school.




CAI and Specialisterne Announce National Partnership to Employ Individuals with Autism into Technology Jobs

Governor Markell was in attendance as CAI, a global Information Technology consulting, outsourcing and systems integration company announced a National Founding Partnership with Specialisterne to train and hire people who have autism, in technology roles.
