Selbyville Fire

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal investigated a fire that damaged a residential structure in Selbyville, Delaware on November 9, 2023.

The incident, reported shortly before 7:00 A.M., occurred in the 36000 block of Mallard Drive Selbyville, Delaware. The Roxana Fire Company arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the structure. The structure was occupied at the time of the fire. The lone occupant of the structure was alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors and was able to escape without injury. Mutual aid fire companies assisted at the scene.

State fire investigators were called to the scene to perform an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The fire was found to be Accidental in nature and was caused by an electrical malfunction. There were no reported injuries to persons or firefighters. Damage is estimated at $85000.
