DNREC to Lift Advisory on Use of Bird Feeders and Baths as Songbird Mortality Decreases

Occurrences of a mysterious songbird illness and mortality event have decreased in the state to the extent that the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has lifted an advisory issued in June asking that the public temporarily discontinue use of bird feeders and baths.




DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announces successful piping plover nesting season

The data is in, and DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife is reporting another successful nesting season for piping plovers in Delaware. For the second year in a row, Delaware established its all-time high number of recorded nesting piping plover pairs, with 19 pairs producing 52 fledglings.




DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife schedules training in Lewes for volunteer beachnesting bird monitors

Volunteers wanting to help protect Delaware’s beachnesting birds are invited to a training session with DNREC’s Fish & Wildlife monitoring team.
