DNREC to hold public meeting Oct. 11 in Wilmington on EPA’s proposed replacement of federal Clean Power Plan

WILMINGTON – The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will hold a public meeting Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington to allow Delawareans to voice their views on the EPA’s proposal to repeal the federal Clean Power Plan to reduce carbon pollution from power plants, and replace it with the Affordable Clean Energy rule proposed by EPA in August. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at the Chase Center, 815 Justison Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Delaware and the nation will be impacted by EPA’s action or inaction. As the lowest-lying state in the nation, Delaware already is witnessing first-hand the impacts of climate change – and the state had begun moving ahead with the Clean Power Plan before EPA proposed repealing it last spring. The Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) rule falls short of establishing emission guidelines for states to develop plans to address greenhouse gas emissions from existing coal-fired power plants.
